To All Nursing Moms (almost wordless wednesday)

As most of you know, I breastfeed Baby Girl. And when I say breastfeed, I mean on demand. Whenever and wherever she is hungry. I've nursed while walking up and down the grocery store aisles, at the park while pushing Toddler on the swing, at the poolside while Mr. Smitty and Toddler play in the water, while filling out paperwork to purchase our truck... everywhere. And no one has ever said anything negative to me. But it really frustrates me that there are moms out there who are harassed about something as healthy and natural about feeding their child.

So when I heard about one mom's experience in a Texas Target, I wished there was a Target nearby so I could participate in this mornings Target Nurse In. Unfortunately, I was not anywhere near a Target this morning, but a girlfriend and I were running errands at our local Lowes and right around 10 am, Baby Girl decided she was hungry. So as usual, I gave her what she needed and fed her right there in the flooring aisle as my friend was discussing her flooring options with the associate. As always, I was discrete and the associate didn't even bat an eyelash. While I wasn't actually in a Target Store, I was there in spirit!

I'm really glad I've never been subjected to judgmental, rude people, but I still feel for those moms who have been. Today I have a shout out for all those moms: you're not alone, you're amazing and keep on doing what you do best.. be a mom!

Wordless Wednesday: Toddler's First Desk

I snagged this desk for only $10 off a Craigslist Ad. Really nice woman, she was worried I wouldn't want it because it wobbles and there's a juice stain on the unfinished wood. No big deal! We tightened the screws and I plan on paint and poly to make it make the girls' playroom and be more toddler craft friendly.
Toddler is very excited she gets her very own desk! And she promptly asked for a "big chair" to go with it, which means I'm snooping garage sales and craigslist for a sturdy chair in need of some TLC.

Wordless Wednesday: Perfect Day at the Pumpkin Patch!

Toddler asked for Pumpkin Costumes, this is the closest I could get an hour before we left. Not to bad if I do say so myself. And oh the wonders of a few spare tshirts and some scrap fabric..

Note the very upset Baby Girl in the right corner?

More than 4 years together!

Toddler always loves the animals. Baby Girl surprised us by getting right in their faces, she loved them!

A Butterfly and a Pumpkin, one on each cheek

Somehow Toddler talked the owner into letting her ride the Yak... oh her powers of persuasion work on everyone but Mommy.

Wordless Wednesday: Early Morning Fire

It's that time of year again. The time of year when we start waking and ending the day with a fire in the fireplace.

It's so cozy and comforting. A great way to start the day.

Baby Girl is intrigued. She spent 30 minutes staring while I got breakfast started and folded laundry.

It's always been a favorite activity for toddler. Love that bed head lol.

Wordless Wednesday: Grandpa's Buddy

Grandma & Grandpa visited and we went to the zoo

Grandpa had a shadow the entire day!

And I got a lot of practice nursing and walking. I'm getting really good at it, as is Baby Girl!

Wordless Wednesday: Playing in the Rain

It rained a LOT this past week!

Toddler took advantage of it. She had a ball!

Not Even Remotely Wordless Wednesday 7/27

Toddler Showing Off Her Mickey
Notice the shiner on her eye? She had an argument with her bedroom doorknob and lost. Poor little girl was so angry at the door. The Stuffed Mickey and Mickey Ears Hat are part of a Disney Goody Bag I won from Raising Three Savvy Ladies. She loves anything Mickey so we had a happy toddler!

Baby Girl Succeeding at Tummy Time
Baby Girl is now 2 months old! She's a very happy, active baby who is eager to be on the move. It's too early for me, but she's decided to scooch around her crib when she wakes up from naps and roll from tummy to back already. Her limbs are always moving unless she's in a post-breastfeeding coma.
I absolutely LOVE her smiles and giggles!

Welcome Baby Girl!

Okay, I'll admit, I haven't been doing any decent typing lately... The last 2 weeks have been really exhausting and busy, what with being 40 weeks pregnant and remodeling our entire kitchen..

And I had our BABY GIRL! Our adorable, perfect, sweetheart of a newborn is here!

She's such a calm sweetie!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday AND DIY Project 5/1-5/7: Completed the Nursery!

After a few weeks of intense remodeling (including ripping walls out, replacing drywall, refinishing hardwood, new light fixture, paint and and installing all new trim), I am proud to present our nursery!

My cozy nursing corner! This rocking chair really needs to be reupholstered, but it's so comfortable! And the "Sweet Dreams" wall decals were a terrific giveaway win from Smile A Day Blog and Curly Cue Decals!

That dresser is something we picked up at a goodwill when I was pregnant with toddler. I handpainted my husband's and my tattoos onto each drawer. It's a very beloved dresser. The blanket on the sofa was made by my grandmother's friend. She made it for my mother, who passed it to me and now I'm using it with my girls! I love Holly Hobby!
This was my pet project! This closet started off bare and there were holes in the walls. I patched it, gave it a fresh coat of paint and installed the shelving. It also didn't have doors so hubby graciously installed those. I then turned the random awkward 3'x3' box at the right into a custom changing table complete with storage for my cloth diapers and changing pad. Tap lights give enough light at night for changes without waking baby!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Tender Moment I Can't Afford to Miss

This happens to be the first photo I've snapped of toddler and my baby belly.
Toddler was been so cuddly lately, she doesn't even mind getting kicked in the face if it means cuddling with Mommy and Baby during her nap.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Creative Paint

 Toddler loves her fingerpainting!

And her body painting! She even managed to get her stomach, ears and cheeks. Looks like a fun load of laundry..
